Meatspace Magazine was a college magazine club created by Ryan Johnson, another senior in the SJSU Animation program. Every week for a semester, we would meet up and share progress on our magazine contributions.

Here's some of the ideations I presented to the team.
I picked the seemingly immortal but invisible tardigrade as my subject matter for "The Unseen World" edition of Meatspace Magazine.


Using 3D to get a sense of scale
Now that I had a decent grasp of Maya, I began using the software to create mock compositions and lighting reference for my illustrations.
Looking back, I probably should've matched the scale and camera angle of the final illustration more to this previs. All's well that ends well, right?

Expectation...

...reality.
