[ Sep to Oct 2021: First time co-directing! ]
Campus Movie Fest is approaching, and I wanted to direct a film. It so happened that Meiya, who directed Igniting Change, was too busy to make a film. PERFECT. Meghan Graham and I got together and decided we would co-direct. One of the big priorities for this film was the Elfenworks Award which awarded the Igniting Change team $5000. I wanted to get my team paid for their hard work, so I decided to make ANOTHER environmental film.
Recruiting
I made an Instagram post to let people know I was looking for talent.
Over 30 of my friends reached out to me but I couldn't say yes to everyone. We wanted to limit the team size to 20 people and I knew we had to prioritize great animators.
After reviewing all the applications, it was extremely difficult to break the news to the people we couldn't keep on the film.
I learned how heavy the role of breaking bad news can be.
The script
I wanted to communicate a sense of irreversible doom through this film. The science says that past a certain breaking point (+2° C), the earth DOES NOT recover from the effects of climate change. It was a call to action fueled by the fear of urgency.
The animatic
I asked our team of board artists to pitch their version of the script.
I picked my favorite moments and combined all the pitches into one cohesive storyboard.
I did my best to include something from everyone's pitch so everyone's vision felt seen!
Then I divided up the shots with the help of my co-director and producer and assigned everyone their scenes.

We won awards!
I was at home watching the livestream of the event and we WON AWARDS.
My brother and I drove to In-N-Out right after to celebrate.
We didn't win any money
but hey, atleast I can now say that I'm an award winning director :)
